I’m the daughter of a scientist, so I’m always intrigued when non-believers attempt to pit science against the Bible. Such debate is senseless since science is not opposed to the claims of Scripture. On the contrary, it supports them. And arguing that science can quantify its measurements doesn’t mean that God can’t quantify His.
God has a holy standard and only Jesus measures up to it. But once we receive the free gift of eternal life through faith in Christ’s sacrifice, we see our spiritual growth measured in divine degrees.
Faith to faith — Romans 1:17 (NKJV) — “For in [the Gospel] the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’” The Greek New Testament renders this verse: “Rightness of God in him is uncovered from trust to trust…
Strength to strength — Psalm 84:7 (NIV) — “They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.” In other words, believers get stronger as they go.
Glory to glory — 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) — “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” We are being transformed into His likeness “from one degree of glory to another” (ESV).
May we quantify or “number our days aright” (Psalm 90:12) so that we may live wisely, becoming more like Christ!
