Most people are willing to invest their hard-earned money into skin care products that promise to clear up blemishes and give smooth, beautiful complexions. But such products typically treat the outer layer of the skin. They treat the symptoms and not the underlying problem.
Dr. Georgiana Donadio, founder of the National Institute of Whole Health, states, “Your skin is the fingerprint of what is going on inside your body, and all skin conditions, from psoriasis to acne to aging, are manifestations of your body’s internal needs, including its nutritional needs.”
So it is in the spiritual realm.
According to Psalm 1, the person who delights in God’s Word will meditate on it day and night. Such a person is “like a tree planted by steams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”
Warren Wiersbe makes this common observation: “Meditation is to the soul what ‘digestion’ is to the body. It means understanding the Word, ‘chewing on it,’ and applying it to our lives, making it a part of the inner person.’”
Joshua 1:8 (NIV) — “ Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
An inner life that is nourished properly will always be evidenced in a spiritually healthy glow and flow. Whether physical or spiritual, the healthiest and happiest way to live life is from the inside out.
