The Outer Fringe

“He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; He suspends the earth over nothing. He wraps up the waters in His clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight. He covers the face of the full moon, spreading His clouds over it.He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness… And these are but the outer fringe of His works; how faint the whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His power?” (Job 26:7-10, 14, NIV)

—“And this is only the beginning…” (MSG)

“Lo, these are the borders of His way…” (YLT)

“But these are only hints of His power…” (GNT)

—“These are some of the minor things He does…” (NLT)

“Yet these are but [a small part of His doings] the outskirts of His ways or the mere fringes of His force, the faintest whisper of His voice!” (AMP)

Who can understand God’s magnificent power? Who can know how truly great God is?

“He thunders with His majestic voice. When His voice resounds, He holds nothing back. God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; He does great things beyond our understanding.” (Job 37:4, 5, NIV)

“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.” (Psalm 145:3, NIV)

“Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness.” (Psalm 150:2, NIV)

“For it’s God’s Name I’m preaching—respond to the greatness of our God!” (Deut 32:3, MSG)
