“But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him. So I will stretch out My hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.” (Exodus 3:19, 20)
“Your right hand, O Lord was majestic in power. Your right hand, O Lord, shattered the enemy… You stretched out Your right hand and the earth swallowed them.” (Exodus 15:6, 12)
So concludes the breathless account of the mighty deliverance of the Israelites from the grip of Pharaoh’s hand. A timely reminder for any of us who may be tempted to doubt: God ALWAYS has the upper hand!
But that’s not the whole story. The hand that delivers us out of the enemy’s presence is the same hand that ushers us into His glorious presence! In Exodus 33:18, Moses boldly announces his heart’s desire to God: “Now show me Your glory.” God’s reply: “I’ll show you My goodness.”
And when God’s glory passed by, it was God who placed Moses in a cleft in the rock and covered him with His hand until He had passed by (v. 22). God Himself protects those who are hid in the Rock, Christ Jesus!
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock that shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love and covers me there with His hand…
To know that God protects us with His own Hand!! How awesome is that!! Thank you, Karen for the word given in such a time when we need it most!!
Consider as well Isaiah 4:5-6 — “Then the Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.”
