According to Encyclopedia Britannica, fingerprints afford an infallible means of personal identification because the print on every finger of every person is unique and does not alter with growth or age. Even identical twins who have the same genetic makeup have different markings. Fingerprints serve to reveal an individual’s true identity despite personal denial, assumed names, or changes in personal appearance resulting from age, disease, plastic surgery, or accident.
Genesis 1:26-27 reveals that the first man and woman were created in the image of God by the community of God, the Trinity. Whereas God spoke into existence the sun, moon, and stars, He formed Adam and Eve, leaving His fingerprints inside and out. Psalm 139:13 reinforces this idea. The Passion Translation reads — “You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb.”
Although Satan has done his utmost to corrupt our true identity since the Garden of Eden (“…you will be like God…” – Gen. 3:5), it is clearly evident that God is our Creator (Psa. 100:3) and we must answer to Him. Humbly identifying ourselves as sinners before God places us in a position to ask and receive His salvation by identifying with Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection. The sinless Son of God has fully identified with His creation and left H literal fingerprints everywhere.
